Wrestling with God

Genesis 32:

28 And he said, Thy aname shall be called no more Jacob, but bIsrael: cfor as a dprince hast thou epower with God and with men, and hast fprevailed.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my aname? And he bblessed him there.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place aPeniel: for I have bseen God cface to face, and my life is preserved.

Here Jacob was returning to the land of his father and was planning on meeting Esau. Esau wanted to kill Jacob for taking his blessing away from him and that is the reason why Jacob fled. Now the Lord was telling him to return and he obediently followed.

In this account Jacob is wrestling with someone. I am not sure on the details. All I know is that he (the messenger) and Jacob wrestled, which I am not sure what that exactly means. It could be a literal wrestling, or a figurative, but they wrestled. Here Jacob had his name changed to Israel which means "he preserves with God or Let God prevail" according to the Bible Dictionary. Three generations of obedient children of Heavenly Father have been on the earth and now the blessing or at least the beginning of the blessing made to Abraham will be fulfilled.

Sometimes we need to figuratively wrestle with God or His messages to obtain any blessing or just understanding of what it is that He would like us to do, or with what he wants to bless us with. But it is worth it. The benefits we gain outweigh the struggle and effort we go through.
