Sacrifice and Obedience

First of all I do want to say I knot this blog page needs some work, and it will be done hopefully this weekend. The second thing I want to say is this DISCLAIMER: This is my own opinion and not the opinion of any church.

Genesis Chapter 4:7

"If thou doest well, shalt thou not be aaccepted? and if thou bdoest not well, csin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be dhis edesire, and thou shalt rule over him."

Cain's sacrifice was not acceptable because it seems like it wasn't up to what Heavenly Father wanted. When God tells us to do something, it should be to His expectations and not what we think is good enough. I want to say we are saved only through Jesus Christ, but He does give us commandments. Imagine if Noah decided he didn't need to get all the animals onto the ark, or if Christ said my sacrifice is good enough without meeting the requirements that God has asked of them or what he asks of us. Doctrine and Covenants section 130 verse 21 teaches that any blessing is predicated upon obedience to a law.

So, Cain I would make an assumption did not fully obey the law. Maybe he took the good stuff and gave God the leftovers. The stuff that no one else would want. This is speculation. Abel, on the other hand probably gave God his very best and did immediately, which could be why his was acceptable.

So, it isn't enough to do something partly correct, we have to do it right. And that should go not only with our spiritual lives, but our temporal lives as well.
